If we don’t count the holiday-themed Wintersong, it’s been seven long years since Sarah McLachlan served up a proper studio album. But with the revival of Lilith Fair just around the corner, what better time to release new material? Per her official site, McLachlan’s The Laws Of Illusion has a scheduled drop date of June 15, and today the ethereal Canadian songstress unveiled new single “Loving You Is Easy.” Give it a listen below!

“Loving You Is Easy” certainly finds McLachlan in better spirits than on the contemplative, melancholy “U Want Me 2,” a single off her 2008 Best Of album. (It was released following the end of her marriage to drummer Ashwin Sood.)

Slightly Beatles-esque (with also a hint of fellow Canadian Michael Buble’s current hit “Haven’t Met You Yet”), “Loving You Is Easy” is also pure Sarah McLachlan. Chalk it up as a perfect summer 2010 confection.

Meanwhile, who here remembers short-lived UK act Hear’Say’s 2002 jam “Lovin’ Is Easy”?
