With The Killers now on hiatus, who else is going to bring us imagery of gender-bending boys in eyeliner amidst an angsty swirling synth-pop soundbed? Well, plenty of bands, actually. But perhaps none can do so with more aplomb than Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson, aka UK duo Hurts. Catch their video for new single “Better Than Love” below!

Hurts were singled out by the BBC in January as one of its Sounds Of 2010. And if anything, the clip for “Better Than Love”—a dramatic affair set in an highly unglamorous dance studio (that’s somehow filled, nonetheless, with uber-glamorous people)—shows that they’ve mastered the deadpan delivery and lush pop melodies that predecessors Pet Shop Boys and Tears For Fears mastered two generations before them.

Forgive us, but this video makes us want to get our ears pierced (again), smoke a pack of cloves and crack open a Bret Easton Ellis novel.
