Christina Aguilera Claims She’s Not A Soccer Mom, Could Have Fooled Us

Christina Aguilera comes to the defense of her highly critiqued music video “Not Myself Tonight.” Somebody’s got to.

The pop star tells Access Hollywood that her penchant for the erotic and sexual has not been erased simply because she has had children. “I never claimed to be a cookie-cutter soccer mom. That’s all good for some people. Not for me.”

Nor is Christina worried about how her son Max will react to the vid. (We’re assuming the 2-year old hasn’t yet laid eyes on it, becasue if he has, he probably doesn’t understand much of it anyway.) “He’s going to grow up in a household where he knows mommy expresses herself artistically and some of that will have to reflect itself sexually, too, at times,” says Christina.

She continues: “He’s going to learn to respect the fact that women are allowed to express themselves and not feel shameful about their bodies or their sexuality.”

Christina does make some very good points—just because a woman has had children doesn’t mean she is no longer allowed to express her sexuality the way she sees fit. Typically when we think of maternal fashion, we think mom jeans, not ball gags and glitter pasties. But regardless of the coincidental-or-not inspiration behind her fashion choices, if that sort of daring style works for the singer (in her videos as well as her off-screen wardrobe choices), so be it.

Did anyone raise a peep when a back-to-being-hot (and mama of two) Britney Spears went completely nude in her “Womanizer” video? Not really. It’s not our responsibility to tell mothers, famous or not, when and how to be modest (which is a completely subjective call). So let’s not Madonna-fy Christina—and we mean that in the biblical sense, since Christina has already done a pretty good job of posturing herself as the pop star version.

Little Max may not even care about mommy making out with another lady while wearing funny-looking clothes that look super ouchy, as he’s more interested in other pop acts: says Christina about her son’s musical tastes, “He’s really into Rihanna.”

And as for the criticism that “Not Myself Tonight” ripped off the likes of Lady Gaga, Madonna, George Michael and various other pop stars’ videos, well, Christina is keeping mum for now.
