Nelly Furtado has appeared on recent tracks by N.E.R.D. and Timbaland, but its been a minute since we heard any new material from the Grammy winner herself. Last year she released the Spanish language album Mi Plan, and now, ahead of her upcoming fifth studio LP Lifestyle, an electro-pop tune titled “Free” has surfaced. Give it a listen below.

It’s been noted on a few sites that “Free” is produced by Salaam Remi, who in addition to working on Furtado’s Mi Plan has also worked his magic on tracks for Nas, Fugees and Amy Winehouse.

Musically, it’s an upbeat jam that seems like it would fit in nicely on your typical radio playlist. Lyrically, the chorus is lacking a bit. But who cares when the song is so uplifting?
