M.I.A.’s New Album Is ‘/ \ / \ / \ Y / \’

M.I.A. is getting playful with letters—or rather, the lack of letters—for her upcoming third album / \ / \ / \ Y / \. (Hint: it spells Maya, her real name. Guess this is somewhat of a self-titled LP, then?) After hearing first single “XXXO” (which is now up on iTunes for purchase), we went to the N.E.E.T. Recordings site for more details on the project. Have a look after the jump at what we found.

Here’s the majority of the info that you meet with on N.E.E.T.’s blog:

Lovely! What we can gleen from this is that / \ / \ / \ Y / \ has now been pushed back to July 13, two weeks later than was originally scheduled.

M.I.A. also graces the cover of the latest issue of British rock mag NME. Note the pull quote, which has the singer/rapper stating, “The new Justin Bieber video is more offensive than anything I’ve made…”
