Another Beyonce video? Slow down, lady—aren’t you supposed to be taking a break? An alternate version of the clip for Beyonce’s Grammy-winning ballad “Halo” has surfaced, and it features the BET Awards-nominated diva in a much darker setting than in the original version. Watch after the jump.

In this alternate version of “Halo,” Barbershop actor Michael Ealy still plays the love interest, but he’s hunted down in the woods and apparently murdered by a dark figure whose face we never see. Beyonce races in a car to find him while she flashes back to sunnier scenes with Ealy from the original video.

It’s not clear exactly what the plot is here, or who killed Beyonce’s man—or why. Maybe that’s why this version was scrapped?

In December, Ryan Tedder, who co-wrote and co-produced the song with Beyonce, told us, “When ‘Halo’ came about, I hadn’t written a song in two months. Then two months after that I wrote [Jordin Sparks’] ‘Battlefield,’ and two months after that was [Kelly Clarkson’s] ‘Already Gone.’ When I don’t do a ton of writing, then typically the quality of the song is a lot better.”
