Daft Punk And Snoop Dogg Fulfill Every Nerd’s Dream By Appearing In ‘Star Wars’

The NBA playoffs have an ad featuring Andre 3000 doing The Beatles, and the Super Bowl had T-Pain shilling Bud Light, but the World Cup has one-upped every other sports event’s commercials in just one blow. Snoop Dogg, Ciara, Oasis’s Noel Gallagher and Daft Punk all got together to film an epic Adidas commercial where they reenact the Cantina scene from Star Wars. What does Star Wars have to do with soccer? Does it really matter? Watch below.

The Adidas/Star Wars mash-up makes sense, actually—the sportswear company recently released a shoe and fashion line inspired by the sci-fi/action film franchise. (And they are awesome, whether you’re a big fan of the movies or not.)

If the remastered versions of the Star Wars movies included anything like this, we’re pretty sure fans wouldn’t have been that upset when George Lucas re-released them into theatres. (Actually, real fans of the original versions of the films would probably haaaate this with a passion… but we’re digging it!)

David Beckham and actor Jay Baruchel (who probably got invited for the fun at Disney’s bequest, as he’s starring in the upcoming The Sorcerer’s Apprentice) also make appearances in the ad, although nothing, and we mean nothing, is cooler than seeing Snoop Dogg handle a light saber. Also, we’re not surprised Liam Gallagher isn’t also in this clip, as the two brothers would probably be punching one another in the face during the entire shoot if he did show up on set.

Anyway, your move, World Series.
