Idols Dish About The Idols Live Tour As Lee DeWyze And David Cook Become BFFs

Despite the overwhelming meh-ness of American Idol Season 9, we’re still managing to go through withdrawal of our favorite singing competition. Good thing Yahoo Music interviewed some of the Top 10 contestants behind-the-scenes of their Idols Live tour rehearsals to keep us abreast of what’s going on in Idolville. Catch up with Crystal Bowersox, Michael Lynche and Casey James by watching their in-depth interviews with Yahoo Music below. (Bonus: two of Idols hottest winners become friends… and paparazzi targets.)

Crystal Bowersox

Crystal—who just got on Twitter, FYI—discusses that she’s proud to be the only Idol contestant in the show’s history to have an original song played on the competition (and on the radio!) before the show was even over. As for being the last woman standing in Season 9? Mama Sox doesn’t like to look at it that way.

“The whole gender thing throws me off,” the laid-back singer says. “Whether it was a girl or a guy, you can’t predict that kind of thing—whichever contestants are the best and make it to the end.”

Michael Lynche

As for the songs he’ll be performing, count on “Woman’s Work” and “Mrs. Robinson” to be a part of his four-song set. Not to mention, Big Mike will be working the crowd just like he did on the show.

“I perform better in front of big crowds,” Michael discusses with Yahoo Music. “I’m trying to focus right now so that I don’t get too excited too soon.” Lynche’s wife and baby will be with him for the majority of the tour, so it should be one happy family traveling around the country this summer.

Casey James

The best part of being a part of the Idols Live tour for Casey? “No themes, [and] you don’t have to cut the song into a minute in a half. It’s good.”

Casey sadly provides no spoilers for what he’ll be performing, but he will “definitely be doing some songs that I performed on the show.”

When asked if he’ll be promoting himself as a country star from now on, Casey replied in the affirmative. “Country music is a big wide open space for you to do what you want to do if you’re within a certain realm…I think that will allow me to do what I want to do, if I go to Nashville. They are going to let me play the guitar, they’re going to let me be edgy and rocky and a little bit bluesy, a little bit old school, a little bit new school… all of that wrapped up into one big ball is who I am musically, and I’m not going to be able to do that anywhere else. So that’s what I’m hoping for.”

As for Season 9’s big winner, Lee DeWyze is already making fast friends with other Idol champs—he stepped out with Season 7 winner David Cook for David’s brother Andrew’s 23rd birthday and quickly became privy to the ever present paparazzi. (Also at the b-day shindig: Season 1’s Ryan Starr. Because once you compete on that show, you’re not allowed to have non-Idol-alum friends ever again.) (UPDATE: I apparently got my Ryan Starr’s crossed. Apparently David and Lee hung out with this dude. Thanks to the zillions of people who corrected me. That said, what’s Ryan Starr up to anyway? She should give these guys a call and hang out.)

But the most important thing to take away from this post—look at these GQMF’s:

All that’s missing is Kris Allen and these three hotties could start their own band where all three play lead guitar and vocals.

On a sidenote, I seriously just googled “American Idol hot guy calender” and nothing showed up! How can this not be in production?! I would proudly hang one in the Idolator office year round. There has to be at least 12 dudes from the past nine seasons of American Idol to lend their beautiful faces to a monthly calender. I’m copyrighting this idea right now and gunning it over to CafePress to make my own.
