Sadly, after her fourth try to make it to you So You Think You Can Dance stage, the adorable and persistent Alexie Agdeppa got the boot last night. The surprising unanimous vote from the judges (we expected Melinda would have pack her tap shoes and go) was just heart wrenching knowing that Alexie had tried so hard only to be cut in the first week. The verdict had her fellow contestants in tears as well. The evening wasn’t all sad times, we were treated to performances from Usher, a number from Twyla Tharp’s Come Fly Away, and glittery opening group number. See how it all played out below.

First we were treated to a smashing opening number to Kelis’ “Acapella” by a choreographer new to the SYTYCD stage, Tessandra Chavez. Our only critique was that the dance highlighted only Jose and Melinda (seriously, did she not get a 30 second solo?!). Here are the bottom three contestants, Melinda, Christina, and Alexie, dancing for their lives:

Then we got a number to “That’s Life” from legendary choreographer Twyla Tharp’s new show Come Fly Away.

Usher performance of “OMG”:

For some reason seeing his performance following that of classically Twyla Tharp Dance Company dancers made the moves Usher’s bevy of backup lady dancers seem down right raunchy.

Then we were treated to Usher and Justin Bieber’s world video premiere of “Somebody To Love”. We’re still not sure we get it what it was all about.

What do you think of the judges decision to send Alexie home? Who of the remaining 10 will be next on the chopping block? Leave us your comments below.

We’ll see you next week for the Top 10.
