All the bump-and-grind raunch of “Not Myself Tonight” is left behind in the video for Christina Aguilera’s latest single, “You Lost Me”—and instead she rolls around while brokenhearted in charcoal. Xtina offered VH1 a behind-the-scenes look at the clip for the breakup ballad, which was co-written by Sia. “I love a big production and some of my elaborate makeup styles, which I love and totally get off on,” Aguilera said. “But for this particular song it was really important…that I interpret the simplicity of the raw emotion…” Watch a sneak peek of Christina shedding the skin of a bad relationship in “You Lost Me” after the jump.

Of course all judgment will be set aside until the full “You Lost Me” video premieres. But given that music buyers didn’t respond well to sexed-up singles “Not Myself Tonight” and “Woohoo,” we say brava, Xtina, for getting back to basics (ahem!) with this one.

Up next for the singer: Aguilera really seems to have caught the acting bug after Burlesque, as she’s set to appear on the season finale of Entourage (along with Eminem), which airs September 12.
