It needs to be said: Lil Wayne is accomplishing more (or at least, cranking out more new music) from behind bars than even the busy Justin Bieber is as walking the streets as a free kid. Wayne — who is serving time for that weapons charge — just released “Right Above It”, the first track from his planned I’m Not A Human Being EP. Wayne may or may not be out in the time promote it, but does it matter? As he notes: “I been fly so long I fell asleep on the p-p-plane”. Check below to hear a radio rip of Wayne’s triumphant new joint, fresh from DJ Clue’s show on New York radio station Power 105.

In an interview with New York DJ Funkmaster Flex, Wayne explained that the EP (due on his birthday, Sept. 27) consists of “stuff I recorded right before I came here.” But it’s worth noting that Wayne recently mentioned on his blog that the lyrics he’s writing from prison are: ” … well there’s no word that I can think of that properly defines them. Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair.” We can’t wait.
