While being interviewed on the New York state political program Capital Tonight, Senate hopeful Joe DioGuardi was inevitably asked about the standing of his daughter Kara’s job on American Idol. Surprisingly, Joe said that his daughter, who sat alongside Randy and Simon for the past two years at the judges’ table, has yet to hear an official word on the status of her employment by the Fox show.

“Would you believe that she did not hear—and still has not heard—anything?” said DioGuardi on Wednesday’s episode of Capital Tonight. “She read it the way you did and I did. In fact, her disappointment is that that’s the way she’s being treated. She’s feels that’s not proper.”

Joe goes on to say that he feels Idol producers are trying to create “a lot of buzz” with the shakeup. And they’re certainly achieving that goal. Following news that Jennifer Lopez is out (or is she?) after being touted as a possible new judge of AI, TMZ now reports that Season 9 guest judge Shania Twain is being considered for a permanent gig on the series.

That is, as permanent as any judge can possibly be on American Idol.
