What’s more exciting than soulful Isley Brothers legend Ron Isley teaming up in the past with R. Kelly, Warren G and Rod Stewart? His pairing with the not-so-reclusive-anymore Lauryn Hill for a cover of the Carpenter’s “(They Long To Be) Close To You.” The duet will appear on Isley’s forthcoming Mr. I album, which is due out this November. Have a listen below.

The Carpenters weren’t the first to record the Burt Bacharach/Hal David-penned ballad, but the brother-sister duo took the single to #1 in 1970, making it the most successful version of the track.

And this isn’t the first time Isley has taken on “(They Long To Be) Close To You.” He first recorded it for the 2003 album Here I Am: Isley Meets Bacharach.

Now if only we could get a Lauryn Hill Meets Bacharach LP recorded…
