Watch Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Take Over Broadway

While bubblegum pop music took over TV last night, a punk rock legend was storming Broadway—Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong made his B’way debut in American Idiot last night, and the show’s creator wasn’t afraid to wave his jazz hands for the theater crowd. After the jump, watch (low quality) live footage of Billie Joe’s debut, uploaded by Green Day’s most enthusiastic fans who decided to stick it to the man and tape the show despite the St. James’ Theater’s no-recording policy. How punk of them!

Armstrong can impressively rock out on stage during Green Day’s lengthy three-hour concerts, so it doesn’t surprise us that he would have the energy and stamina to pull off singing and dancing in a two-hour musical.

“St. Jimmy”

“Know Your Enemy”

“Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)”

Download a free mp3 of Billie Joe performing the encore of “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)” over here. And head back to the St. James Theatre tonight til Sunday to watch the punk-rocker joining the drama club for his eight-show run.
