Kenny Chesney #1 On Album Chart, Lil Wayne Just Behind With Digital LP

Lil Wayne may be behind bars, and his I Am Not A Human Being LP may have been beat to the #1 position on the Billboard Top 200 this week, but at least he can celebrate the fact that the album, which is only available in digital format, still sold about 110,000 downloads and landed at #2. (Of course, any letting loose on Weezy’s part will have to be done in solitary confinement.)

Wayne’s Human Being, his eighth studio album, will be released on CD format this coming Tuesday (October 12). Assuming there are enough fans of the troubled rapper out there who want a plastic copy of his latest, that could boost the set’s longevity—or even see it hit the top of the chart. Until then, Chesney’s Whiskey is #1 after moving about 183,000 copies.

Only two other albums crack the Top 10 this week—Gucci Mane’s The Appeal: Georgia’s Most Wanted (#4) and Eric Clapton’s Clapton (#6). Next week, however, should see a bit of a shakeup in the upper reaches of the chart as Bruno Mars, Toby Keith, David Archuleta and Guster take a shot at high debuts with their latest offerings.
