Chris Brown has paired up once more with his “Deuces” producer Kevin McCall for the newly surfaced “Between The Lines.” The synthy slow jam finds Breezy trying to reassure his girl that she’s the only one for him. Listen below and see if he sounds convincing enough. “Why you so upset with me? Girl, what is this about? Them other shorties I don’t care about,” Chris sings as he lays it all on the line. Later Kevin adds, “So let’s retrace our steps, figure out where we were / Let’s talk this through.”

And given the recent success Brown and McCall had with “Deuces,” it feels like this could comfortably find a nice place on radio.

If there’s one gripe, it’s that the production seems a little sparse, and the song just sort of fades out before it makes any memorable impact. Maybe it’s just in demo stage?

At any rate, like Chris’ current single “Yeah 3X,” “Between The Lines” seems to reinforce the fact that the sometimes-randy crooner is definitely aiming for a return to commercial pop with his new music.
