‘Glee’ Mashes Up En Vogue And Bon Jovi In Tuesday’s “Never Been Kissed”

We were wowed by Glee‘s all-male a cappella take on Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” — but could the rest of the numbers featured on tomorrow’s episode, “Never Been Kissed”, live up to that refreshing performance? The girls of New Directions tackle classic all-male rock bands, the boys take on larger-than-life divas from the past, and Puck and Artie go reggae — listen to tomorrow’s tunes below.

In The Name Of Love” would make a good match with En Vogue’s fiery “Free Your Mind”, but it doesn’t really work for us. The Rolling Stones/Bon Jovi mash-up, as sung by the girls, comes off a bit more naturally. And as for Puck and Artie’s uninspiring take on Bob Marley’s “One Love”… do yourself a favor and stick with Bob Marley’s version. If we have to give Glee credit for something this week, at least these mash-ups, along with the a cappella Perry song, are unique in their own way, and show more creativity than just copying the original song by its standard arrangement from start to finish. What do you think? Do these songs get you excited for Tuesday’s episode? Or are you just tuning in to drool over Kurt’s possible new love interest?
