A one-minute clip of American Idol alum Carrie Underwood’s new song “There’s A Place For Us” (no relation, of course, to West Side Story‘s “Somewhere”) was previewed during last night’s CMA Awards. The cinematic ballad will play during the end credits of The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader, which hits theaters December 10. In the meantime, you can hit a clip of the tune below. Underwood co-wrote “There’s A Place For Us” with David Hodges and Hillary Lindsey.

“I’m a big fan of the Narnia books and films, so I was really excited about seeing this new movie and writing and performing a song for it,” she said, as quoted by Artist Direct. “I was blown away by the film, and I think people are going to be really excited when they see it. It’s the perfect holiday film.”

For some reason, this beginning of this number was giving us a bit of déjà vu. But then we realized we were thinking of Avril Lavigne’s own fantasy flick ballad “Keep Holding On,” from Eragon. And that’s when Carrie started singing “hold oooooon, hold ooooooon” at the end of the clip.

“There’s A Place For Us” seems endearing enough, but we’ll naturally reserve judgment until the full song arrives.
