Bruno Mars does some heavy-lifting in the video for his single “Grenade“, our favorite track from his overwhelmingly enjoyable debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans. Bruno’s piano becomes a fairly large burden on the artist as he drags it all across town — and yes, he really is schlepping all 88 keys using only his own brute force. Watch the hitmaker work a piano like you’ve never seen before in the clip’s behind-the-scenes footage below.

Bruno Mars – “Grenade” (Behind The Scenes)

“The concept of the video is my struggle, to tell this girl I’d do anything for her,” Mars says in the behind-the-scenes clip. “So I’m going as far as dragging a piano to get to her just so I can sing my heart out.”

“I shoulda been dragging a harmonica across town,” Mars laughs.

The video for “Grenade” drops this Friday.
