Patrick Stump Reveals Song Titles — And A Sleek New Look
A few more details have emerged on Patrick Stump’s debut solo album Soul Punk, due out this February. But first, check out how swanky Stump is looking nowadays! Hoo boy. He’s got a Brandon Flowers vibe going on, don’t you think?
“Neither I nor my music seem comfortably defined by the DIY punk or R&B/hip-hop scenes,” says Stump in a press release. “I feel like I operate between the margins. I want to contribute to the musical vernacular of both.”
“I’m just as pissed off as I was while screaming in punk bands,” he continues, “But I feel like I’m directing it into something positive and centered around love.”
Tracks on Soul Punk (which was written and produced by Patrick, who also plays every single instrument featured on the album) include an ode to his hometown of Chicago on “This City”, a critique of materialism in “Greed”, and a song about “naive sexuality” called “Allie.” And it appears he’s still taking votes for which version of his tune “Spotlight” will appear on the album.
