Amy Winehouse Performs In Brazil

Amy Winehouse performed at the Summer Soul Festival in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil over the weekend, and we’ll start with the good news: her set in no way resembled this mess. And the singer, in her usual beehive and short cocktail dress, even looked healthy and put together! Sadly, a lack of slurring and a returned sense of style doesn’t mean she’s back to her glory circa 2006. Jump below to catch Winehouse’s performances, from “Rehab” to a smooth jazz version of “Valerie”, and tell us if you’re impressed or disappointed.

The reports of her debuting new songs turned out to be bogus — Winehouse stuck to her well-known songbook for the 16-song set. The crowd at the fest clearly loves her, but we think Winehouse is singing like she’s half asleep, or is possibly trying to salvage her voice from a sore throat. Worst of all, it looks like she’s just trying to get through it alive — she’s clearly not having much fun up there.

Back in July, Amy Winehouse told Britain’s Metro newspaper that her nest album would drop in “six months at most”. That would be… now. Clearly, we’ll have to wait a bit longer. But the largest piece of evidence that Winehouse might really someday make an actual comeback: she showed up! No last minute cancelations! Baby steps, people.
