Drum whiz Travis Barker has been amping up his hip hop cred by recording with Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Game and Swizz Beatz, and by joining the roster of Weezy’s I Am Music II tour. Now he’s gone and taken a stab at remixing Kanye West and Jay-Z’s angry Watch The Throne single “H.A.M.” Give the rocked-out version of the rap joint a listen below. Admittedly, we weren’t that blown away by ‘Ye N-word riddled tirade and Jay’s boasting on “H.A.M.” In fact, our first thought was that the best part of the song is the breakdown in the middle—i.e. the bit where the two of them aren’t rapping.

So how does Travis’ take on the song stack up?

(Travis Barker Remix)” dl=”0″] It’s an interesting mix, with the ominous guitars and, naturally, live drums sprinkled in here and there. But was it necessary? “H.A.M.” already stiffed in the charts (currently it’s the 135th most downloaded song on iTunes) and received mixed reviews. There’s probably a reason for that, Trav. Personally, we think Barker should stick to hamming it up on his new material while prepping for his upcoming tour, and just let “H.A.M.” R.I.P. [Via Rap-Up.com]
