Disney singer/actress Demi Lovato cut her world tour with the Jonas Brothers short last fall when she entered a facility to “seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time.” The 18-year-old posted a short video today, where she touched on the “difficult” journey that she’s been on over the past few months. Watch below. “I was dealing with issues that I know not only girl just my age, but of all ages are dealing with—people that are probably watching this video right now are dealing with the issues that I had, too,” Lovato says in the clip. “I hope to one day raise awareness of everything just so I can help people, too, just like you guys helped me through this rough time.”

E! Online reported in early November that Lovato had a history of both suffering with bulimia and cutting herself. Previously, Demi also spoke out about being bullied for years in school, to the point where her family opted to have her home-schooled.

“I can’t tell you how much light you guys brought into my life in probably the darkest time in my life,” the Disney star says in the new video. “Without you guys I wouldn’t be here today.”

Demi then hints at a return to work, but makes no mention of whether or not that will include her Disney Channel series Sonny With A Chance.
