Kris Allen will be part of a huge Fox series’ finale in a few weeks, but it won’t be the one that made him a household name. Rather, “Still Got Tonight,” the American Idol winner’s upbeat ballad he co-wrote (with Andrew Frampton and Steve Kipner) for Matthew Morrison’s self-titled solo album (out tomorrow) will be performed by Morrison on Glee‘s May 24 Season 2 finale. The Hollywood Reporter notes that Matthew’s character Will Schuester will belt out “Still Got Tonight” alone on a stage in an empty theater in a scene directed by outspoken Glee creator Ryan Murphy.

The publication goes on to report that Morrison initially approached Murphy about including one of his new songs in the show. “It was going to be just a big dance piece with me doing this big dance number,” Morrison stated. “But they said, ‘We want you to sing it and make it a big moment.’”

Mr. Shcue, er, Matthew (really, it’s all actor’s-song-within-his-show-about-songs, so what’s the difference) also appears to be pretty jazzed about how it all turned out, because he indicated to the Hollywood Reporter that he might just use the scene as the song’s music video.

Boy, that whole Glee thing seems to be a pretty convenient gig if you can get it, no?
