Preview Lil Wayne’s MTV2 Unplugged Special With “Money On My Mind”
Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV may have been pushed from its June 21 release date to August 29, but the MTV2 Presents: Lil Wayne Unplugged show must go on! We’ve been anxiously awaiting Weezy’s stripped-down gig (it airs June 12 at 9 p.m.) since it was announced last month. Luckily, MTV Buzzworthy has thrown impatient viewers like us a bone in the way of an early glimpse at Wayne doing Tha Carter II‘s “Money On My Mind.” Watch below! Wayne is the first hip hop artist to stage an Unplugged show for MTV since Jay-Z did so ten years ago. Buzzworthy notes that the set list draws from the “How To Love” hit-maker’s albums and mixtapes, and even includes a cover of TuPac Shakur’s The Don Killuminati single “Hail Mary.”
So if you’ve always wondered what Wayne would sound like with nothing but drums (real ones!) and guitars backing him up on an intimate stage — not to mention the complete absence of Auto Tune — put your mind at ease once and for all, music fans!
