Justin Bieber Attacked Outside Macy’s In New York

The people who usually ruin a Justin Bieber event are his frenzied fans who can’t keep their cool when faced with the real-life presence of their teen idol. But during The Bieb’s appearance at Macy’s in New York City this afternoon, one older, mean-spirited, possibly crazy man had to put a damper on all the fun by attacking the pop star. Footage below. UPDATE: Apparently it was a huge misunderstanding. Details below.

Justin was at the department store to promote his new fragrance Someday, and stepped outside to wave hello to fans who were not allowed inside the store. That’s when an unidentified male jumped the barricade and pushed him to the ground. The man was taken away by security, and Bieber escaped with minor injuries. (Probably nothing more serious than a bruised ego.)

Please forgive us for taking off our calm caps for a moment, but — WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?! Critique his music (or just plain ignore it) all you like, but Justin Bieber’s biggest crime is filling young girls’ lives with an absurd amount of joy. Why do people have the desire to throw water bottles at his head? Or pelt him with eggs? Or assault him in the middle of the day? Not only is he not deserving of such physical violence, but HE IS A KID. Yes, a very rich, famous kid with tattoos, but he’s a kid. You’re trying to physically harm a kid. Not cool. Go “dislike” his “Baby” video on YouTube all you want, but leave it at that.

UPDATE: TMZ reports that the man was actually  — TWIST! — an undercover cop!

Bieber was signing autographs outside of Macy’s when the crowd became unruly … and a plainclothes police officer rushed to help the singer.

Problem is — Bieber didn’t know the guy was a cop — so when the cop got close to Justin … Bieber got defensive thinking he was a crazy fan.  A member of Bieber’s security team immediately grabbed the cop and tried to pull him away.

What is this, a stunt for an upcoming Bieber movie where he plays an undercover cop? In any case, we’re glad there’s one less crazy out there.
