Was Adele Forced To Cancel Beyonce Glastonbury Duet?

Chart queen Adele may have rescheduled her North American tour dates following a bout of laryngitis, but a report has surfaced that one gig she had to nix from her calendar was a duet with Beyonce at yesterday’s Glastonbury festival. Knowing that this meeting of the divas might have gone down, but didn’t, pains us almost as much as it probably does Adele (if true)! UK tabloid The Sun is reporting this supposed missed opportunity today. Says a source:

“Adele was absolutely gutted, Beyonce is one of her big heroes. It would have been the stuff of dreams to perform with her – the gig of her life. But docs have told her she’s got to rest her voice or risk damaging her prized asset. She hopes one day they can do something together.”

Adele, who’s had the #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 for the past seven weeks, has been given doctor’s orders to not speak for a month, or else she risks permanent damage to her voice. Can’t you just picture the man-sassin’ throwdown these two ladies would have turned out on the Pyramid Stage at Glasto? A “Single Ladies/Rolling In The Deep” mashup, perhaps? A joint performance of “If I Were A Boy” or “Set Fire To The Rain”? Let’s hope this report isn’t a bunch of bunk (there has been no official word from either diva), because it’s cruel to taunt us with even the mere notion, if it is.Sigh. Fingers crossed for the VMAs or American Music Awards.
