Adele Cracks Jokes, Belts Out Her Hits At iTunes Festival Gig

Adele, apparently on the full mend after a month of recovery from her bout of laryngitis, hit up the Roundhouse in London for last night’s iTunes Festival. The UK singer with the best-selling album of the year tore through her wide away of heartache-tinged ballads and the rare upbeat numbers (such as her Hot 100-topping hit “Rolling In The Deep”), and even covered Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” But it was her between-song banter, spoken in her Cockney accent, that was one of the night’s main highlights. Watch Adele mesmerize the crowd at the iTunes fest below.

Our favorite parts from Adele’s gig: when the 23-year-old singer tried to decide, via audience participation, whether or not to sing “One And Only” with the band or as a stripped-down piano version, and her comments (before singing “Turning Tables”) about watching Beyonce’s Glastonbury performance. “I was channeling Beyonce backstage with the dance,” Adele joked, while shaking her shoulders. “And I got a wind machine, and in sound check I had my hair out. I was trying to work out how she controls her weave with the wind machine! She does it with so much grace. Me, oh my god, I’ve got egg on my face.”
