Darren Criss To Fill Harry Potter’s Role In ‘How To Succeed’ On Broadway

This is some of the best casting we’ve heard in quite some time: Glee‘s breakout star Darren Criss, who plays Kurt’s a cappella-loving boyfriend Blaine, will take over Daniel Radcliffe’s role as J. Pierpont Finch in Broadway’s How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying in January 2012.

“Daniel gives an extraordinary performance eight times a week and we knew finding someone to fill his shoes would be nearly impossible,” said the show’s director and choreographer Rob Ashford. “When we learned of Darren’s dream of performing on Broadway we knew we had found our Finch but presumed his Glee schedule would eliminate any chance to work with him. We are ecstatic and grateful to Ryan Murphy and his Glee team at 20th Century Fox TV for helping to make both Darren’s and our dream come true.”

Besides the fact that Darren is a sensational singer who will no doubt do the role justice — plus we know he already looks quite dapper rocking some business casual – it’s extra satisfying to see him follow in Daniel Radcliffe’s footsteps, as Criss played The Boy Who Lived in a Harry Potter student musical while attending the University of Michigan.

Check out the teenage dream on Broadway during his limited three-week engagement from January 3 to January 22, 2012.
