After embracing an electro-pop sound on her new single “Domino”, it’s nice to hear Jessie J get in touch with her soulful side on “Without You”. The Toby Gad-produced demo is a tender ballad that allows the “Who’s Laughing Now” singer to do what she does best — hit notes that most of her contemporaries can only dream of. At first listen the emotion-drenched track would appear to be a straightforward break-up anthem but it soon becomes apparent that the Complex model is dealing with deeper issues. Grab a tissue and listen to the tearjerker below.

Jessie J – “Without You”

Death is a difficult topic for a pop singer to tackle in a ballad, and yet Jessie J does it with subtlety and grace on “Without You”. “Clutching on to you while you’re slipping through my hands”, croons the “Nobody’s Perfect” songstress. “I wanna see the good in this but it just doesn’t make any sense”.

There’s no word yet if this is an old demo or new material for the rumored US re-release of Who You Are, but we’re sure it will be eagerly devoured by the Brit’s loyal heartbeats.
