Matt Cardle, who The Sun declares “could be the first credible rock singer to come out of The X Factor,” saw the details for his debut album Letters unveiled today. Perhaps Simon Cowell’s label Syco figured they’d better get a move on since fellow 2010 X Factor alum Cher Lloyd — who came in fourth on the show — is currently on top of the UK chart with sassy single “Swagger Jagger,” and, you know, Matt won the series last year? Cardle is officially the last UK X Factor winner before Simon launches the series here in the States next month. (Of course, the show will still go on across the pond — it just has somewhat of a new lineup at the mentors’ table.) His debut LP, Letters, has a release date in his home country of October 17.

Tracks included on the album, according to Cardle’s official site, include “Run For Your Life,” “Starlight,” “All For Nothing,” “Amazing” and “Letters.” The 28-year-old pop-rocker worked on the LP with fellow British singer James Morrison and producer Eg White (Adele’s “Chasing Pavements.”)

So far the only winner from the UK series to break out in the US has been Leona Lewis. But given the Coldplay comparisons in the Sun, maybe Simon will give Matt a try on these shores?
