Lady Gaga’s “You And I” Remix By Wild Beasts Is A Soothing, Chill Affair

Lady Gaga’s “You And I” is a bombastic power-pop jam with a kick-stomp “We Will Rock You”-esque beat and appropriately cinematic (if not slightly creepy) music video. The official remix of the song by British indie rock band Wild Beasts, however, is way more relaxed and subdued. In fact, it’s so chill, you might want to pull up a chaise lounge chair and happily drift off while listening. This isn’t your Mother Monster’s Lady Gaga — hear the mix below. “The unlikeness of this match was perhaps what compelled us to take it on,” Hayden Thorpe, frontman of Wild Beasts, told the Guardian. “Gaga in many ways is the epitome of what we are not. She is the butcher to our butter knife. The essential thrill is always to keep eluding what is expected of us and what we expect of ourselves.”

The UK paper also notes that Wild Beasts’ hypnotizing “You And I” mix is also helping raise awareness about the ways people can support independent labels that lost stock in the Pias UK warehouse fire during the London riots earlier this month. (More info here.)
