In anticipation for Sunday’s 2011 MTV Video Music Awards (which we’ll be liveblogging all night long), we’ve predicted the winners for the Best Pop Video and Best Male Video categories. It’s now time to tackle Best Female Video, and to paraphrase one nominee’s declaration, girls are definitely ruling the world with this fun, fierce and fantastic selection of female-driven clips. Head below to glean our best guesses as to who will (and should) win the moon man, and share your own thoughts by voting in our poll.

BEST FEMALE VIDEO Adele, “Rolling In The Deep” Beyonce, “Run The World” Katy Perry, “Firework” Lady Gaga, “Born This Way” Nicki Minaj, “Super Bass”

THOUGHTS ON THE NOMINEES: Katy Perry and Adele’s clips are both up for Video Of The Year, but we all know that means squat when trying to predict another category. Remember Taylor Swift scoring the win in this category with “You Belong With Me”, then losing out to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” (also up for Best Female Vid) for the the main award? Of course you do. Kanye made sure of that.

Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” video was super fun, and the song became a surprise hit, but when it comes to either emotion or epicness, it’s outnumbered in this group of female vids.

Gaga and Beyonce’s undeniably EPIC clips for the lead singles of their respective albums were both highly anticipated, but underwhelmed once they actually premiered. Both have had better videos, and have received moon men for them before.

WHO WILL WIN: Since we think Katy Perry will walk away with Best Pop Video for “Last Friday Night”, we think MTV is going to give it up for either Adele or Gaga in this category – Gaga being the more popular choice, while Adele being the better one.

WHO SHOULD WIN: Adele’s video was simple, evocative, and hit the perfect note. No sparkling boobs or blobs of goo required.
