Tears are gonna fall for the four MTV Video Music Awards Video Of The Year nominees not named Adele if our readers get their way. We posted a poll on Monday asking who is most deserving of the most coveted moon man prize at this Sunday’s 2011 VMAs broadcast. The clear-cut winner: “Rolling In The Deep.” Head below to see the results of how the poll panned out. Adele’s single was released last December, and was followed by her sophomore album 21, which debuted at #1 on the Top 200 and has racked up 12 non-consecutive weeks (so far) in the chart throne.

Likewise, “Rolling In The Deep” is the single with the most weeks at #1 (seven total) on the Hot 100 so far this year.

In our Video Of The Year prediction writeup yesterday, we noted the following:

“This is Adele’s year. Was the video for ‘Rolling In The Deep’ all that epic? No. But the London powerhouse truly deserves any accolades for pretty much lifting slumping album sales out of the red in 2011.”

And, clearly, our readers are still feeling the impact of Adele’s emotional, stomping soul-pop jam — “Rolling In The Deep” captured 51% of the votes in our Video Of The Year nominees poll.
