Demi Lovato’s “Skyscraper”, from her forthcoming album Unbroken, is the highest-charting single yet from the former Disney actress as a solo artist. And what happens when your song becomes a hit? Cover versions pop up all over the web! After hearing Jordin Sparks’ take on Demi’s song, Aussie pop duo The Veronicas try their hand at the emotional ballad. As it turns out, Demi is actually a friend of the Origliasso twins. (They also share a producer, Toby Gad, who produced “Skyscraper” as well as tracks on both The Veronicas’ albums.) Watch them talk about covering the pop star’s single to The Hot Hits Live:

The Veronicas recently performed some new edgier tunes at two sold-out shows at LA’s Viper Room, and are planning on releasing a new LP in 2012. We’re officially excited.
