The upcoming October issue of the UK edition of Vogue is dedicated to “The English Woman Now,” and the mag feels that no one personifies that more in 2011 than Adele — at least when it comes to celebrities. “Our cover girl, Adele, has won over the world with her heartbreaking voice and her ability to seem as if she very much herself,” Alexandra Shulman writes in her editor’s letter. Case in point: although the London songstress didn’t win at the recent MTV VMAs, “Someone Like You” has steadily remained at #1 on iTunes since her haunting performance on the show. Just Jared posted a few particularly classy quotes from Adele from the magazine:

* “I puke quite a lot before going on stage. Though never actually on stage. But then, I shit myself before everything … the bigger the freak-out, the more I enjoy the show!”

* “I’ve seen people where it rules their lives, who want to be thinner or have bigger boobs, and how it wears them down. And I don’t want that in my life. I have insecurities, of course, but I don’t hang out with anyone who points them out to me.”

* “I’ve always got on better with boys. Most of my friends are boys. Like, if I ever have children, I want five boys. Boys love their mothers whereas girls can be so mean to each other.”
