Madonna sat through a barrage of interviews (as well as a barrage of negative reviews) while promoting her film W.E. at the Venice Film Festival last week, and during a chat with Sweden’s Sveriges Television, she elaborated a bit on the progress of her upcoming 12th studio album. “I’ve started a little bit of work in the studio, and then when I go back to New York, till the end of the year I’ll be in the recording studio,” Madge said. Watch her interview below. The 53-year-old singer/actress/director told the Swedish interviewer that people can expect “more good music” from her upcoming LP. “I think the first single is — I’m not sure, February, March? And then the album will come out in the spring,” Madonna added.

This will be the pop queen’s first full set of new material since 2008’s Hard Candy (not to mention her first since divorcing Guy Ritchie). In 2009, she released the two-disc hits collection Celebration as a fulfillment of her contract with longtime label Warner Bros.

Madonna is now contracted to Live Nation.
