Over the past week, Kelly Clarkson unveiled her Stronger album cover, Blake Shelton’s “Footloose” cover made its way online, Season 10 American Idol contestant James Durbin signed a label deal and we highlighted both a handful of this fall’s upcoming releases and 10 albums that turn(ed) 20 in 2011. Here on Idolator we also premiered Tony Bennett and Carrie Underwood’s rendition of the classic “It Had To Be You.” And just how did our readers react to all of this pop action? Read on! :: Godiva thought Dev The Night The Sun Came Up: Fall Preview was better than chocolate: “Living in the UK, I already own the album, and it’s amazing. It is NOT a club album at all… There’s something on there for everyone, even kids with parents that hate dance music, half the album is stuff they would probably enjoy, with enough dance elements for you still get your kicks.”

:: Edgar Jose Tonato will definitely be splashing down his cash after reading Demi Lovato Unbroken: Fall Preview: “Demi is one of the most powerful vocalists out there in the music industry today!!! She is ten times better than Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus ALL COMBINED INTO ONE!!!”

Matt Cardle Run For Your Life
:: Wanda answered our question on Does Matt Cardle Have The X Factor In His “Run For Your Life” Video?: “It’s a terrible bore and he has no star quality at all. What’s more I think he knows it—seems very uneasy when performing and being interviewed. The fans will buy it but he has no chance of a long-term career.”

:: Stewie felt a bit differently: “I couldn’t disagree more. He has talent and charm by the bucketload… If he’s as boring as his (I suspect rather invested) detractors here suggest, he wouldn’t have the number of fans he has and he certainly wouldn’t have won XF as resoundingly as he did or sold a million copies of his single.”

:: Brandon Hall made it happen on 10 Albums That Turn(ed) 20 In 2011: “Certainly not one of my favorite Mariah albums but, Emotions is one of my favorite songs of all time.”

:: KathyY kicked off her Sunday shoes on Listen To Blake Shelton’s Very Faithful “Footloose” Cover: “I like Blake and I LOVE Kevin and Footloose. I cannot get behind the remake just on the principal but if Kevin and THE BACON BROTHERS didn’t do this song for the movie, then I’m happy to hear Blake’s version. Good job!”

:: John was even glad to be sad when listening to Carrie Underwood And Tony Bennett’s Duet “It Had To Be You”: “They are perfection!! Thank you, Tony, for choosing Carrie and letting us hear her sing in this genre! It’s magical!!”

:: Jill, however, felt it had to be someone else: “Tony should have asked Taylor Swift to sing with him! Taylor would have wrote him a new song so they did not have to do the same old 50 year old songs again!”

:: That caused Lann to chime in: “HI, my name is Taylor and my daddy spent millions to get me a record deal and even though I sing like a 12 year old and out of tune. Money couldn’t buy me a voice though. Too bad.”

:: Why At Work found the strength to comment on Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger Album Cover, New Release Date Revealed: “The album cover is a million times better that than the single but the title reminds me of Sara Evans too much.”

:: Speaking of Idol contestants, lah hit a sour note on James Durbin Signs Record Deal: “No, I will not buy any of his music. There are a lot more metal groups better than him. Durbin’s music and style are both unoriginal and hes’ also a bit of a douche bag.”

:: Justin was singing a different tune: “James is by far the best talent to ever come from that show, and I will definitely be buying his first CD. I still can’t believe this guy didn’t win.”
