No Doubt Announce New Album Won’t Be Out This Year

Despite taunting us with the fact that they wrote an apparent theme song for proms across the country and whetting our appetites with an in-studio pic of Major Lazer, No Doubt have dropped a real downer on their fans via their official site. “Ideally our new record would be coming out this year but it’s just not ready yet,” the band explained in a blog update. “We don’t want to rush this album just to get it out.” Gwen Stefani & Co. added, “This collection of songs means everything to us and our only priority right now is to make sure that it’s the best album we can possibly make.”

Oh, and how perfect it would have been for the record to arrive at the end of this year, exactly one decade after the December 2001 release of No Doubt’s last studio album, Rock Steady. (The band also offered up a hits compilation called The Singles 1992–2003 two years after Rock Steady.)

“We love our fans and are doing this for your ears and want you to know how much we appreciate your patience and support,” the quartet said on their site.

Are you disappointed that the new No Doubt album won’t be out this year? Don’t speak — type your frustrations below!
