Today UK singer V V Brown made good on her promise to deliver “Children,” the lead single from her upcoming album (due out next year). The sing-song jam, which was produced by Chuck Harmony and features a rap by Chiddy of Chiddy Bang, interpolates campground song “Do Your Ears Hang Low,” and offers a new twist on the melodic retro soul V V served up on tracks from her first LP, such as “Shark In The Water.” Listen below. “Oh, if I had my way, I’d throw everything away, I’d draw it all up again, keep walkin’ with me,” Brown sings on “Children.”

Later, Chiddy raps, “Mama was hurtin’ and she couldn’t spend a penny more, but why nobody have real dreams anymore? / Forget the issues and worries, this is something I found / Sip on that optimistic juice while this drum rollin’ down.”

Are you digging V V Brown’s new sound, even though it’s still a bit of a throwback? Let us know below!
