Coldplay added yet another festival feather to their cap in the lead-up to new album Mylo Xyloto — Atlanta’s Music Midtown fest, which the UK rockers performed at on Friday. And what better place than R.E.M.’s home state of Georgia for Chris Martin to pay tribute to the Athens band, who announced their break-up last Wednesday? Head below to watch Coldplay offer up a heartfelt cover of R.E.M.’s Automatic For The People classic “Everybody Hurts.” “This week there was some sad news, if you’re a music fan… one of our favorite bands of all time, R.E.M., for some crazy reason have finished,” Martin said on stage. “And it’s sad. So with the most respect in the world — and please don’t judge this cover version on its musical merits. See it for the gesture rather than its musical sound.”

Do you think Coldplay did “Everybody Hurts” justice?
