When we profiled Detroit indie-pop dudes Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. in our Popping Up series, Josh Epstein, one-half of the duo, described what folks can expect from their typical live set: “Just that we plan on giving them a live experience somewhere in between the Pussycat Dolls and the Jumanji movie.” We’re assuming that translates into this recent cover the guys did of Whitney Houston’s 1987 smasharoo “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” in Denver. Hold on to your hats during that wild chord change toward the end. Odds of the double-Jr.’s rocking out a better vocal performance of this jam than Whitney herself these days? Well, don’t answer that.
