Lady Gaga Halloween Costume: A How-To Guide

Pop stars and outrageous outfits go hand in hand, which makes it oh-so easy to dress up as one for Halloween. Having trouble deciding which artist to choose from? We’re back to help you handpick the most iconic ensembles from 2011 and give you some tips on how to recreate them. As always, save us a fun-size candy bar from your trick-or-treat bag as thanks. (Just no Laffy Taffys, please!)

Today, we’ll walk you through three different ways to be more than just a spooky creature of the night come October 31. Scroll through our Lady Gaga Costume Guide below, and if anyone asks how you got to be such a fierce monster, tell them you were born this way.

“Born This Way” Gaga:

What you’ll need:

  • A sharp tuxedo with a black bow tie (try a thrift store or a tuxedo rental place)
  • Light pink wig pulled into a ponytail or a hair extension like this one from eBay
  • Face paint kit (hit up Target or pick one up online like this lil guy)
  • An easy to follow makeup tutorial
  • Rewatch the music video a few times before heading out so you can bust out the Gaga moves when “Born This Way” comes on at your Halloween party.

Gaga As Jo Calderone:

What you’ll need:

  • Assuming you don’t already have Jo’s coif, you’re going to need a Danny Zuko-esque wig like this Grease one — but whatever you get, just be sure it has some serious sideburns.
  • A white Hanes t-shirt with the sleeves rolled up (Make sure it’s good and wrinkly!)
  • Borrow a men’s black suit or hit up a second hand store.  (If you wear jeans, people might mistake you as Ralph Macchio in The Outsiders.)
  • One lonely cigarette to put behind your ear.
  • To really sell it, have a pal dress as Britney Spears for the perfect “Will They / Won’t They” sexual tension.

“Marry The Night” Gaga:

What you’ll need:

  • A blonde wig
  • A funky little black blazer, a black bustier, heels and dark sunglasses
  • Robin’s egg blue lipstick like this shade from No She Didn’t.
  • If you can’t find black leather shorts, black bike shorts should do the trick
  • As for Gaga’s giant hat, take a trip to Michaels craft store and get creative. Maybe wrap a black comforter around your head and secure it with duct tape, balance a black bean bag chair on your dome, or simply use the hood of a black Volkswagen Beetle. Anything goes.

Congratulations, you’re the best costumed Lady Gaga at your Halloween Monster Ball!
