Justin Bieber Raps, Remixes Frank Ocean

Justin Bieber is apparently on a mission for people to see him as an adult musician instead of a perpetual teenypopper pop star. Bieb was back to freestyling during a stop at New York’s Hot 97, churning out some unstoppable flow once again: “Number one hits, I got number one flicks, and the number one kicks, and the number one chicks.” Can’t argue with him there. Also in arguably is his surprising competency remixing a Frank Ocean track. Hear both below from The Bieb.

Many people are wary that Bieber is writing his flow himself, but Bieb knows who those particular naysayers are: “People in their basement say I didn’t even write this.” Your move, basement bloggers!

And though he dropped a Saved By The Bell reference in his last radio rap, this time he gives a shout-out to other long-ago teen-centric comedy, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Either he’s got some pretty old school tastes, or he knows how much the Internet nostalgic pop culture references.

Because the Bieber news cycle never officially wanes, Bieber also showcased his skills on a mellow, surprisingly mature remix of Frank Ocean’s “Thinking About You.” Joining him on the tune? His “Never Say Never” amigo Jaden Smith, Brother of Willow and Progeny of Will and Jada.

Between these two new musical offerings, are you begrudgingly becoming a Belieber? Honestly, we’ve got a good feeling about this kid being able to transition into a respected adult artist, Timberlake-style. How about you?
