The Black Eyed Peas Announce Their Hiatus, Not Their Breakup, On ‘Ellen’

This is pretty much non-news, since “T.H.E.” tunesmith will.i.am informed the masses back in early July that the Black Eyed Peas would be taking a break after the wrap of their touring for latest album The Beginning. Still, that hasn’t stopped the rumors from flying about breakups and band member replacements. At any rate, the band appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today to state for the record that they’re simply putting things on hold for a bit. “We always have two cycles of records and then we take a break,” will.i.am, whose solo album #willpower is due out early in the new year, told Ellen. “And when we take breaks we work on side projects or get our personal stuff in order to then come back and make beautiful music.”

Fergie, who, admitted that she and husband Josh Duhamel would like to start a family during the break, said the following:

“That’s one of the things that we want to do. I’ve just been touring since 2003, and like anything, things get monotonous and you’re doing the same thing every night. I’d like to go days without makeup and watching my football games, doing my footwear collection and fragrances, or just going where the day takes me.”

Well, as we’ve said before, we wish the day would take her to the recording studio to crank out a follow-up to 2006 solo LP The Dutchess!

Will you be sorry to see the Peas put things on hold for awhile?
