We’ve already explained our picks for the year’s best in music, now it’s time for everyone else’s opinions to roll out. Rolling Stone unveiled their Top 50 lists of the Best Albums and Best Singles of 2011, and pop holds sway on both. Britney Spears and Beyonce make the cut for the music mag’s Top 10 Singles of the year, while Adele, Lady Gaga and The Throne (aka Jay-Z and Kanye West) are featured on the list for both singles and albums. Hop below to check the Top 10 for both year-end lists.

The mag calls Gaga’s Born This Way (#6) “anything-goes extravagance” and Watch The Throne (#2) a triumph of “Kanye West’s genius for beats both iconoclastic and pop-savvy.” But the most praise goes to Adele’s extremely successful 21, which topped the list: “The sound is state-of-theart retro soul, with touches of Motown, bossa nova and 1970s piano pop. But at its heart was that voice: giant, classic-sounding, promising emotional depth way beyond its years.”

How about their write-up of Brit’s Ke$ha-penned hit single “Till The World Ends” (#3): “That ‘whoa-ho-ho’ choir sounds like Cher leading an aircraft carrier full of gay sailors.”
