VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul aired last night, and each of the soulful ladies who took part brought their best game. “Today is probably one of the best days of my life,” Jessie J said during the telecast. “I feel like crying. I’m probably going to cry when it’s over, happy tears.” Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige and Kelly Clarkson kicked the night off with a medley of the Supreme’s Motown classic “You Keep Me Hanging On” and their own respective staples “Spotlight”, “Real Love” and “Since U Been Gone”. Another highlight of the evening: a musical tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. Watch the divas pay homage the cities of soul from around world below. Winehouse’s rapper pal Nas introduced the tribute segment of the special, where Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and Florence + The Machine’s Florence Welch performed. Nas appears on Amy’s newly-finished track “Like Smoke” from her just-released Lioness: Hidden Treasures collection.

“When the legendary Amy Winehouse sang about me in her song ‘Me And Mr. Jones’, I was so honored, because that’s about me, Mr. Jones,” said Nas. “It didn’t matter where she was from or what color her skin was because Amy Winehouse was my true soul sister.”

Meanwhile, in addition to taking part in some covers during the show, Kelly Clarkson performed her current single “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)”, while Florence sang “Shake It Out”.
