Is Adele planning to end her silence, post-throat surgery, at next month’s Grammy Awards? Following Katy Perry’s sudden withdrawal from this week’s People’s Choice Awards, we certainly could use some good performer news during awards season. RadarOnline.com is not only reporting that the “Set Fire To The Rain” songbird is planning on attending the Grammys, she’s also in talks to sing at the event. Adele is currently up for six Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year (21) and both Record and Song Of The Year (“Rolling In The Deep”). It seems, then, like it’d be a no-brainer for the photogenic London singer, who already has two Grammys on her mantle, to perform during the ceremony on February 12 — except for the fact that she’s still healing from her surgery.

A source tells Radar the following: “Adele will be at the Grammys in Los Angeles on February 12 at the Staples Center. She’s thrilled to be nominated, but it’s been a hard time for her because of the surgery. She has begun talking more, with her doctor’s permission. Adele’s best friend in recent weeks has been warm compresses around her neck to help the healing process of her vocal chords.”

The source points out that producers want Adele to open the entire show, “but she isn’t able to give them an answer yet. She won’t be able to give them an answer until the beginning of February, and they completely understand.”

Beginning of February? That’s cutting it close. Do you think, given her blockbuster turn in 2011, Adele is a good choice for the prime opening slot at this year’s Grammy Awards? And if she does take to the mic, should she perform one of her nominated tunes, or her new single, “Set Fire To The Rain”? Let us know below!

Adele’s 21 is out now on XL/Columbia. Purchase it at eMusic.
