Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club Shut Down For Health Violations — One Day After Reopening

Jay-Z’s 40/40 club in Manhattan, which reopened to much fanfare last Wednesday (January 18) after a $10 million renovation, has been shut down by the New York City Department of Health. According the New York Post, the gilded NYC sports lounge was cited with 69 violations — almost double the amount of points allowed to receive the Health Department’s lowest possible ranking, a “C”.

Hov must have been so busy producing “Glory” (not to mention baby Blue Ivy Carter) that he forgot to purchase two crucial items ahead of 40/40’s relaunch: utensils and a new refrigerator. Of the multiple infractions 40/40 was hit with that night, the health inspector reportedly found food stored at unsafe temperatures and spotted one worker mixing salsa bare-handed! A rep for the club later claimed the kitchen’s fridge broke right before the inspector showed up, leaving no time to correct the problem. The restaurant has since cleaned up its act and was open for business last night.

So tell us: Are you willing to give 40/40 another chance or is it time to move on to a new place? Tell us in the comments, or on Twitter and Facebook.
