The music world has been in mourning since news broke that Whitney Houston has passed away. Fans and celebrities took to Twitter to express their condolences and remember the pop icon, but instead of tweeting, Beyonce updated her personal website with a touching blog post to share the pain she suffered upon hearing of Whitney’s death.

The new mother described Houston as “confident, poised, stunningly beautiful and intelligent, but she was sincere and kind.”

Like many artists, Bey was inspired by Whitney and at the age of 15 she had the pleasure of meeting the legend. “So many of my life’s memories are attached to a Whitney Houston song,” she wrote.

Beyonce ended her post by stating, “She is our queen and she opened doors and provided a blueprint for all of us. God bless her.”

The “Love On Top” singer took to her blog to pay tribute to another departed music legend, Etta James, who she played in the 2008 biopic Cadillac Records.
